Tanzania uses one government portal for online visas to Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar. That does not mean every traveller buys the same visa.

Check the passport route and purpose first. Some passports are exempt. Ordinary tourism is USD 50, United States passport holders use the USD 100 Multiple Visa for tourism, and the USD 30 Transit Visa is not a cheap holiday visa.

• Ordinary tourism: USD 50, valid up to 90 days.
• United States tourism: USD 100 Multiple Visa, even for one visit.
• Transit: USD 30, no more than 7 days, onward travel only.
• Processing: within 10 days for non-referral applications.
• Passport: at least 6 months of validity and one unused visa page.
