Archived snapshot Open the government page first, then follow it out to the application. The live portal publishes no regexes, character limits or error text, so this guide states none. What it does have is nine checks worth running before any money moves.
Section 1: Route and eligibility
1. Are you on the 66-country list? 66 eligible-country passports can apply for the tourist eVisa directly.
2. If not, use the finder.

Archived snapshot Holders of specified valid US, UK or Schengen visas or permanent residence, and GCC residents, are decided on different terms from the 66-country list, so the finder is the correct starting point rather than the eVisa checkout.

Archived snapshot The tourist visa covers tourism, events, family and relative visits, leisure, and Umrah excluding Hajj. It does not cover Hajj, study or work. The Umrah visa route runs through KSA Visa, and the Umrah permit through Nusuk.
Section 2: The application
4. Check the hostname. The tourist eVisa portal host does not end in .gov.sa. It is operated by the Ministry of Tourism, and that is exactly why the hostname deserves a character-by-character read after you arrive from a government page.

Archived snapshot 5. Passport number. Copy it from the passport you will travel on. The issued eVisa is tied to that document.
6. Passport validity. At least 6 months at entry. Check the expiry before paying.
7. Email. The result reaches this address. Use an inbox you can open yourself.
Section 3: Cost and validity
8. Insurance and the real total. The base government fee is SAR 300. Mandatory medical insurance, VAT and the payment amount affect the checkout total, so the figure you pay is larger than the base. Keep the insurance document with the eVisa.
9. Validity and stay plan. The eVisa is normally one year, multiple entry, up to 90 days per stay. Check the issued document before buying a second visa for a second trip in the same year.

Archived snapshot Hajj requires its own visa and permit. No amount paid on the tourist eVisa portal converts into a Hajj permission, and no third party can convert it either.
