Suriname

The ICF is mandatory for all passengers travelling to and from Suriname, available from 7 days before arrival (a separate form covers departure). The form itself is free: icf.sr lists 'fill in your ICF form for free' next to a separate 'purchase Entry Fee before arrival' step, and the arrival form tells travellers who need an Entry Fee Voucher, e-VISA or tourist card to buy it at VSF-Global first; it cannot be bought on arrival. Those are different charges. The customs step asks for counts of accompanied/unaccompanied luggage, plants/animals/food, commercial merchandise, and whether the traveller is 'in possession of currency or monetary instruments of USD 10,000 or more or its equivalent'. The form states that Surinamese law prohibits carrying USD 10,000 or more in cash or equivalent value across checkpoints (Dutch text: 'vanaf (USD) $10.000'). A gov.sr announcement by the Deviezencommissie cites Algemene Beschikking no. 225 of 31 August 2022, but its own wording is inconsistent on the threshold: the prohibition sentence reads 'vanaf USD 10.000' (from USD 10,000) or the equivalent in other convertible currencies, the permit sentence reads 'meer dan USD 10.000' (more than USD 10,000), and the still-allowed sentence reads 'tot USD 10.000' (up to USD 10,000), so whether exactly USD 10,000 is banned is not settled by the 2022 text. The announcement also states declaration is no longer possible, permits go only to the Central Bank of Suriname and exchange banks, and violations carry 4 to 6 years in prison; that 2022 decree is the most recent instrument obtained (see unresolved sr-cash-carry-rule). Residents 18+ (form EN: '18 years and over'; form NL: 'Boven 18 jaar' — whether exactly age 18 qualifies is unresolved, see sr-duty-free-age-equality): US$500/year duty-free plus quotas (500 g tobacco, or cigarettes up to 200 pieces, or cigars up to 20, or cigarillos up to 200; 1 L spirits, 4 L wine, 8 L beer, 250 ml perfume, 250 ml eau de toilette). Visitors: declare all dutiable articles. False/incomplete declaration: seizure, fines, imprisonment.
