Applied for on arrival at Pitcairn, before landing clearance; no advance application required (waiver contact encouraged for Section D/E/F 'Yes' answers).
Who it applies to, exceptions and limits (full text)
Direction: visitors arriving at Pitcairn by vessel. Per the Pitcairn Islands Government immigration page: a visitor staying 14 days or less and travelling to and departing from Pitcairn on the same vessel may be eligible for a short-term visitor visa, which can be applied for on arrival at Pitcairn. The applicant must meet character, health, travel and medical insurance, and financial capacity requirements as outlined in the Immigration policy (unless waived by the Governor). Applications for short-term visitor visas are made to an immigration officer on arrival at Pitcairn through completion of the combined immigration and biosecurity declaration form (given out on arrival); no advance application is needed, though travellers whose Section D (character), Section E (immigration history) or Section F (health) answers are 'Yes' are encouraged to contact Pitcairn immigration before travel as a waiver may be required. Fees: under the Immigration Control Ordinance 2006: Fees and Levies notice issued by the Governor in consultation with the Island Council under s 2D(1), effective as of 2 June 2026 and titled for Pitcairn, Henderson, Ducie and Oeno Islands, the application fee for a short-term visitor visa is NIL; in addition, the applicant must pay the applicable per-island landing fee, which is charged regardless of visa category: per island per passenger aged 18 years or over NZ$100; per island per passenger aged over 5 years and under 18 years NZ$50; passengers aged under 5 years NIL; a passenger aged exactly 5 falls into no stated band, and the landing fee for that exact age remains unresolved (see PN-landing-fee-age-5-boundary-unspecified). The Governor has the discretion to waive or reduce application and landing fees (s 2D(3)). The same notice also sets separate charges — extension of a short-term visitor visa, passport stamp if a passenger is not going ashore, and a passenger head levy applying to cruise ships and chartered tour vessels entering the territorial sea — which are different fee matters: no amounts for them are stated in this procedure, they are not part of the short-term visitor visa application fee, and the head levy applies to the vessel rather than being a fee the applicant personally must pay; see the country report. The Pitcairn Islands Immigration Policy (made pursuant to s 2A Immigration Control Ordinance 2006; official PDF dated 2026-03-22), s 9, confirms the eligibility conditions — stay of 14 days or less, departure on the same vessel, presentation of a valid travel document to an immigration officer upon arrival, and payment of all applicable fees upon arrival unless the Chief Immigration Officer has authorised other arrangements — and that an immigration officer decides short-term visitor visa applications at the border.
