When to apply

At the border crossing point — the place of entry into or exit from Montenegro — on each entry and each exit: the traveller reports to the customs authority and completes/submits the Prijava (declaration form), which border customs posts must keep available to passengers on both the entry and the exit side, and presents documents on the origin of the funds for the customs check.

Who it applies to

Every traveller — resident or non-resident of Montenegro, including ship and aircraft crew — who enters or leaves Montenegro by road, rail, sea or air carrying cash, cheques, bearer securities, precious metals or precious stones worth in total EUR 10,000 or more (exactly EUR 10,000 included; other currencies and other payment instruments at the equivalent value) must declare it to the customs authority at each entry and each exit; persons carrying payment instruments for a company or for another natural person are also covered.
