When to apply

Fill in the card on arrival and hand it to a Customs or Biosecurity Officer before being given clearance to enter the Islands.

Who it applies to, exceptions and limits (full text)

Single proven passenger-initiated submission. Per the Arrival section of the Import protocol — Personal imports and Baggage V3.0 (issued 25 May 2026, first issued May 2019), all inbound passengers to the Falklands must fill in one Biosecurity/Customs declaration form, which is handed to and checked by a Customs or Biosecurity Officer before clearance to enter the Islands; completed declaration cards are kept by the Biosecurity Unit. Declared items are inspected at the point of arrival; where there is uncertainty an item is confiscated for further inspection by the Biosecurity Unit; Customs and Biosecurity run spot checks on random passengers to verify declarations are correct and true; prohibited or restricted goods not complying with import restrictions are retained or seized at the time, a 'Notice of Seizure/Retention' is completed (original copy to the passenger, one copy to Customs, one to Biosecurity) and the passenger is informed of the action, the reasons and the right to appeal; an amnesty bin at the airport takes inadvertently imported goods that are not allowed. Personal-import food conditions are triggers of this same card, not a separate procedure: personal imports must be declared to Customs on arrival and are subject to biosecurity inspection; certain fruits, meats and dairy produce may be carried as a Personal Import without an import permit or sanitary certificate only under Appendix 1 conditions — permitted-list fruit purchased in the United Kingdom or Chile, commercially packed and labelled, visibly free from soil, pests or disease, accompanied by a proof of purchase, maximum 5kg total per person; meat, meat products and cheese from the EU bearing the EU symbol or from a non-EU approved establishment, in original sealed packaging, maximum 5kg per person; milk and milk products UHT in original sealed packaging clearly marked UHT; eggs bearing the British Lion mark on the shell, free from faeces and feathers, maximum 12 per person; fish and fish products in sealed commercial packaging; processed plant material and processed meats/dairy likewise requiring sealed commercial packaging detailing product, processing method, manufacturer and country of origin. The 5kg figures are conditional biosecurity admission limits for those specific categories only — not a general aggregate customs duty-free allowance for all goods; whether categories aggregate is not stated in the text and is not computed here. Imports outside the personal allowances (such as seed potatoes or personal imports of plants) require an import permit, obtainable before travel; individuals may apply for a single import permit and a reduced rate is available for non-commercial imports (amount not stated). The Department of Agriculture travelling page repeats the same duty for personal-use imports above its baggage-allowance guidelines — declared to Customs on arrival, subject to inspection, confiscable if criteria are not met or not declared on arrival (the guideline list on that page is an image not captured by this batch's text extraction) — so it is merged as the same card, not a second procedure. The former separate FK-customs-rules-reference entry is merged into this one: it carried the same protocol's import conditions and the same card with no independent second submission action. The official visitors page requires all visitors to provide the Customs & Immigration team with details of where they will stay, but evidences no separate immigration form or submission vehicle, so no second procedure is recorded on that single sentence. Cash-declaration thresholds and general customs duty-free allowances are not covered by any local official text captured this batch and remain unknown; UK mainland figures must not be transposed to the Falkland Islands.
