Per the Aduana General de la República's official news item (28 March 2022, describing the current Banco Central de Cuba resolution): the free import and export limit for Cuban pesos was raised from 2,000 to 5,000 CUP (verbatim: 'se eleva a 5 000 CUP'). Separately, the same item states a current BCC resolution 'establece como límite para la importación y exportación libre 5 000 MLC' — a 5,000 MLC free import/export limit — and that the international export limit for MLC is 10,000. These two statements are kept distinct as printed; the item does not infer any currency/unit interaction between them. Above the applicable limit, permission from the BCC is required under current rule Resolución 124/2020, with the bank answering requests within seven days and the traveller demonstrating the licit origin of funds. Passengers receive a declaration form on the aircraft itself and declare there ('los pasajeros tienen acceso a un formulario que se les entrega en el propio avión y ahí se declara'). The Res79-2022 BCC PDF could not be downloaded this round (HTTP 404; audit round saw an empty file), so the resolution number/effective date should be confirmed against the Gaceta Oficial or the BCC site. 2026-09-29 re-capture of the Aduana news: free import/export of Cuban pesos 5,000 CUP (raised from 2,000); a BCC resolution in force sets the free MLC limit at 5,000 (import free); above those limits a Banco Central de Cuba permit is required under Resolution 124/2020 and the bank answers within up to seven days.
