As captured: travellers carrying 'diez mil o más pesos centroamericanos' (ten thousand or more Central American pesos) in cash, or securities of fifty thousand pesos or more, must declare (Ley 8204). Undeclared cash is retained and deposited in an ICD account. The declaration form is issued by the carrier before arrival (Resolución DGA-072-2005). A family travelling together may file one declaration. Duty-free 'bonificación' of 1 to 500 pesos per member applies after 72 hours abroad (48 hours at Paso Canoas) if not used in the previous 6 months. Unaccompanied baggage: 3 months before to 3 months after arrival. Amounts are kept in Central American pesos as written; no USD conversion is asserted by the source text.
