When to apply

On entering The Bahamas (disembarking passengers).

Who it applies to, exceptions and limits (full text)

For travellers entering The Bahamas. Disembarking passengers must make an oral declaration of all goods they are carrying or which are in their baggage, and complete this form in respect of any goods that are liable to duty; members of a family residing in the same household and travelling together may make a single declaration. A written declaration is required from persons carrying currency or monetary instruments of B$10,000 or more (threshold inclusive) or the foreign-currency equivalent; the reverse of the form defines currency to include cash, travellers cheques and drafts, and directs travellers carrying cash, negotiable instruments, precious metals or precious stones of a value equivalent to B$10,000 or more to read those notes before completing all items. Duty-free allowances: for adults only, alcoholic beverages up to one quart of spirits and one quart of wine, and tobacco up to one pound in weight or 200 cigarettes or 50 cigars; any other articles up to a value of $500.00, which is an allowance and not a filing threshold. The form warns that false or incorrect declarations and prohibited or restricted goods (including fruit or other plant materials, animals, birds, drugs, firearms) attract penalties and possible forfeiture. This 2018 Form C17 replaced the Form C17 in the First Schedule of the Customs Management Regulations 2013 with effect from 1 July 2018 (official Ministry of Finance scan). Later amendment history is only partly checked: the 2026 amendment regulations visible on the official yearly listing do not alter this form, and 2019-2025 remain unchecked (see unresolved). The form's separate instruction that 'each person or responsible family member travelling is required to complete this form' is broader than the dutiable-goods condition; this record does not claim that every arriving traveller must complete a C17. No declaration requirement is established for departures. No form-handling fee is stated; duty paid on dutiable goods is tax, not a form fee.
