Travellers of any category and crew members entering Argentina who carry, as baggage or pacotilla, cash, bearer negotiable instruments (in foreign or Argentine legal-tender currency) and/or coined precious metals with a combined value EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN the equivalent of USD 10,000 must declare it to the customs service at the moment of entry using form OM 2249-A, which is generated and issued by the customs service and signed by the declarant (Resolución General 5659/2025, article 1; in force from the tenth business day after publication in the Boletín Oficial of 10-03-2025, replacing RG 2704/2705 while keeping form OM 2249-A). Amounts are computed per traveller or crew member; for unemancipated persons under 16 the threshold is half, i.e. the equivalent of USD 5,000 (article 5). Conversion uses the Banco de la Nación Argentina buyer exchange rate at the close of the business day before entry. Transit passengers: the exit limits of articles 2-4 do not apply if OM 2249-A was filed at entry with the word 'Tránsito' entered in the 'Otros' field of 'DIVISAS - Motivo o destino'; that form must then be presented at the exit customs office (article 9). The ARCA help page still uses the looser 'inferiores a USD 10.000 / monto superior' wording; the regulation text governs the exactly-USD 10,000 case.

Travellers of any category and crew leaving Argentina with Argentine legal-tender currency (peso) cash and/or bearer negotiable instruments issued in that currency whose combined value is EQUAL TO OR GREATER THAN the equivalent of USD 10,000 may take them out through a declaration to the customs service at the moment of departure using form OM 2250-B, which is generated and issued by the customs service and signed by the declarant (Resolución General 5659/2025, article 4). Conversion uses the Banco de la Nación Argentina seller exchange rate at the close of the business day before exit. Amounts are computed per person; for unemancipated persons under 16 the threshold is half (article 5). This route covers local-currency values only; under RG 5659/2025 arts. 2–3, foreign-currency cash or foreign-currency bearer instruments at or above USD 10,000 cannot be carried out in baggage by filing OM 2250-B and must instead move through authorized financial entities. Coined precious metals likewise are only allowed in baggage below the threshold under art. 2; this is a transport restriction, not a second traveller declaration. Arriving travellers have to make the customs declaration ONLY when they (a) must pay the tax due for exceeding the current duty-free franchise, (b) carry goods regulated by SENASA, or (c) bring in cash and/or monetary instruments — in foreign or Argentine legal-tender currency — worth equal to or more than the equivalent of USD 10,000 (ARCA baggage régime page). Branch (c) is the OM 2249-A currency declaration described in ar-currency-entry-om2249a. The customs declaration is completed digitally: the entry-baggage declaration form in the mobile applications or on the self-service terminals; only if a digital declaration is not possible must it be made manually on form OM-2087/G5 or OM-2087/G6, as appropriate. Travellers forming a family group — married couples, civil unions and children under 16 not emancipated — may use the franchise jointly. Narrowed to the régime text: a traveller leaving Argentina who carries goods ORIGINATING IN THIRD COUNTRIES as part of their accompanied baggage must declare and show them to the customs service before departure, by registering them on form OM 121, which can be completed by hand or generated through the internet (ARCA baggage régime page). The service records personal data, date and place of exit and the objects transported; the form is printed and presented to customs when travelling, is personal and non-transferable, and must be presented to the customs service again on return. The earlier broader wording on the ARCA travellers home page ('declare the objects and/or vehicles you travel with') is not carried forward as a blanket obligation; it is superseded by this narrower sourced rule.

White-goods-specific procedure, not a general entry-baggage form: Argentine or foreign travellers resident in the country who return by the baggage route may import domestic white-line appliances (fridges/freezers, washing/drying machines and combined units, dishwashers, electric ovens/cookers, electric water heaters/boilers, air conditioners — all domestic use) under a simplified import régime, completing virtual form OM 2153, which has the character of a sworn declaration for the traveller. It is expressly NOT carried out under the baggage régime and does not affect its franchises. Maximum 1 new unit of the same species per calendar year per traveller over 16. Once the tax liquidation is generated and paid by the traveller, the import is authorized. Taxes are ad valorem per the OM 2153 table (20% import duty, 3% statistical rate, 21% VAT and 11% income tax for every species, plus a 9.50% internal tax on air conditioners only), so no fixed fee amount is recorded here.
