When to apply

On arrival at an external border when carrying currency of total value at or above USD 10,000 equivalent (fill in, sign and hand over the form; keep the validated duplicate); on departure, a non-resident taking out at or above USD 10,000 equivalent hands the duplicate to exit customs.

Who it applies to, exceptions and limits (full text)

Under BNA Aviso 6/22 of 3 March 2022 (effective 30 days after publication, i.e. 2 April 2022), natural persons, whether FX-resident or non-resident, entering Angola with national or foreign currency of total value equal to or above USD 10,000 equivalent must declare it at entry by completing the customs-supplied declaration form; the traveller personally completes and signs the form, customs validates it, retains the original and hands the duplicate to the traveller (Art. 3). Art. 3(1) states no age limit, while the official CPLP table labels this row adults. Non-resident natural persons may exit with foreign currency only up to the value they brought in; where that value is equal to or above USD 10,000 equivalent they must prove it on exit by handing the validated duplicate to the exit customs (Art. 4(3)-(4)) - exactly USD 10,000 is covered ('igual ou superior'), overriding the CPLP FAQ's generic 'superior'. Departure amounts are carry caps, not separate forms: residents up to USD 10,000 equivalent in total; unaccompanied resident minors under 18 up to USD 1,000 (Art. 4(1)-(2)); border authorities may still condition exit on suspicion of a criminal offence regardless of the limits (Art. 5).
