Archived snapshot The live application shows required labels, DD-MM-YYYY prompts and 2 MB upload limits. It does not publish text-field regexes, character limits or official error messages, so this guide invents none.
Section 1: Route and documents
1. Eligibility. Check the official passport list before paying. Visa exemption, eVisa and visa on arrival are different routes.
2. Face photo. Use a 4 x 6 cm colour image taken within 6 months. Plain white background, no shadows, neutral expression and both eyes open. Upload JPG, JPEG or PNG no larger than 2 MB.
3. Passport image. Upload the whole bio page, including the two MRZ lines at the bottom. Keep every edge visible. The same 2 MB JPG/JPEG/PNG limit applies.
Section 2: Passport data
4. Surname. Copy it from the passport used for this application.
5. Given names. Include every given name shown there, including a middle name.
6. Date of birth. The live form displays DD-MM-YYYY. Use its date control.
7. Passport number. Use the document you will carry. The Approval Letter is valid only with that passport.
8. Passport validity. Only ordinary passports qualify. The terms require more than 6 months of validity from arrival and at least one blank page.
Section 3: Trip
9. Port of entry. Choose one of the 9 designated eVisa ports. Arriving elsewhere means the eVisa cannot be used and the fee is not refunded.
10. Intended entry date. Use DD-MM-YYYY. The FAQ says the date may be no more than 60 days from application and the system requires at least 5 days before arrival.
11. Address during the visit. Enter the hotel or local address in Laos. Keep the booking available for a spelling check.
After submission
Normal processing is 3 working days after a complete application and payment. Check status with the application ID and passport number. When approved, print the Approval Letter and carry it with the same passport to a designated port.
