This guide therefore states no invented validator rules. The cards below follow the application, FAQ and terms read on 30 August 2026.
Check the portal's eligible-country list for the passport you will carry. Do this before uploading documents or paying a non-refundable fee.
Use a 4 x 6 cm colour photo taken within 6 months. Plain white background, no shadows, face the camera, neutral expression, both eyes open. Upload JPG, JPEG or PNG no larger than 2 MB.
Photograph or scan the whole bio page. Keep every edge and both MRZ lines visible. The upload accepts JPG, JPEG or PNG up to 2 MB.
Copy the surname from the passport used for the application. Do not substitute a name from another document.
Copy all given names shown in the passport, including a middle given name.
Use the official date control and follow its DD-MM-YYYY prompt.
Enter the number from the passport you will present at the Lao border. A different passport can lead to refusal.
Only ordinary passports qualify. Confirm more than 6 months of validity from arrival and at least one blank page before paying.
Choose one of the 9 designated ports. You may use any port on that list even if it differs from the one selected, but an undesignated port requires a separate visa route.
Use DD-MM-YYYY. The FAQ says the arrival date may be no more than 60 days from application and the system allows applications from 5 days before arrival.
Enter the hotel or local address for the stay. Keep the booking available in case the address needs checking.

The approved letter is sent by email and can be checked online. Print it and present it with the same passport at one of the 9 designated ports; immigration places the entry permission sticker there.

8. Passport validity. Only ordinary passports qualify. The terms require more than 6 months of validity from arrival and at least one blank page.
9. Port of entry. Choose one of the 9 designated eVisa ports. Arriving elsewhere means the eVisa cannot be used and the fee is not refunded.
10. Intended entry date. Use DD-MM-YYYY. The FAQ says the date may be no more than 60 days from application and the system requires at least 5 days before arrival.
11. Address during the visit. Enter the hotel or local address in Laos. Keep the booking available for a spelling check.
Normal processing is 3 working days after a complete application and payment. Check status with the application ID and passport number. When approved, print the Approval Letter and carry it with the same passport to a designated port.
