1. Run the eligibility check
ETA-IL is only for citizens of visa-exempt countries. If PIBA says the passport needs a B/2 visa, leave the ETA application and use the visa route. If you already hold a valid Israeli visa or fall under another listed exemption, you may not need ETA-IL either.
2. Use the travel passport
Use the passport carried to Israel. The government entry page says it must remain valid for three months beyond arrival for an ETA traveller. A renewed passport requires a new ETA-IL.
3. Enter an email you control
The portal sends the receipt, payment receipt and decision by email. The approval message shows the ETA-IL number, validity and conditions. Keep it available during entry and the stay.
4. Choose the real visit purpose
ETA-IL covers short tourism or business visits of up to 90 days. Employment, study and other long stays require a visa. Do not select tourism to bypass a long-stay route.
5. Pay only ILS 25 on the government portal
The official fee is ILS 25 and non-refundable. Official notices say there is no express service. Confirm the host is israel-entry.piba.gov.il and save the payment receipt.
6. Review before submission
PIBA provides a final review step. Correct mistakes there. A submitted form cannot be edited; a mistake requires a new form and payment.
Many decisions are immediate, but allow up to 72 hours. If the result asks for more information, follow that email. If refused, use the help-center route instead of repeatedly filing new applications.
