Migración Colombia describes Check-Mig as a free, online and optional pre-registration. It can shorten the immigration interview, but it is not a visa and does not approve entry.

Entry and exit
The service is for Colombian and foreign travellers entering or leaving Colombia through immigration control. The first live step asks whether the current journey goes to Colombia or from Colombia, then asks for the transport type.
Treat each registration as the record for the movement selected on screen. Do not choose entry for an outbound trip or reuse old trip information.
The exact filing window
The live CheckMig page and the government service guide both state the same window: complete it from 72 hours before travel until one hour before travel.
The service is not a form to submit weeks early. Waiting until the final hour leaves no margin for an email or data problem.
Five live steps
The current application shows:
- type of journey;
- travel information;
- personal data;
- accommodation;
- questions.
The government guide names flight details, biographical and contact information, travel purpose, accommodation when applicable and health status. For an air trip, the live field asks for the flight number without letters.
The form exposes labels and a few instructions, but not readable regex, maxlength or validation attributes. No hidden pattern is invented here.
Submit and keep the confirmation
Migración Colombia says completion takes about two to five minutes and the confirmation normally arrives by email almost immediately. If it is missing, use the official “check and download” function.
Submitted data cannot be edited. The government service page says to make a new registration when an error is found. Keep the latest confirmation available for immigration control.
Passport, visa when required and final admission remain separate from Check-Mig.
