Azerbaijan ASAN e-Visa · field guide · varies

The fields where people get the official ASAN e-Visa wrong, in form order.

The public ASAN pages show the eligibility gate, required document choices and application conditions, but they do not expose the later form's regexes, character limits or error text. This guide therefore carries no pattern claims and no copied-looking error messages.

§ Fields, in order

8 fields, 3 sections, varies total.

All sections Showing 8 of 8
Section 1 · Eligibility
01

Visa-free status

Open the Ministry's current visa-free page before the ASAN application. Check passport type, permitted stay and any temporary scheme dates. If the passport is covered for this trip, no e-Visa form is needed.

02

Nationality or citizenship

Choose nationality according to the passport you will use. Dual nationals must apply and travel on the same document; a different document makes the e-Visa invalid.

03

Travel document or passport type

Select the document you will physically present at the border. The portal directs persons with refugee status to an Azerbaijani diplomatic mission.

Section 2 · Travel document
04

Travel document validity

Check the document expiry against the end of the e-Visa's validity, not only against the arrival date. The required buffer is 3 months beyond visa expiry.

05

Travel document photo-page scan

Prepare a clear image of the page containing the photo. Keep all edges and text readable. The applicant is responsible for the scan, and the portal warns that an unreadable copy can be rejected.

Section 3 · Timing and delivery
06

Planned arrival date

For standard service, choose an arrival date at least 3 working days after submission. Urgent service is a separate 3-hour route, including weekends and holidays.

07

Email address

Use an inbox you can open before travel and check the spelling. If no result email arrives, use ASAN's status checker with the application details.

08

Payment card

The official standard charge is USD 20 plus a USD 5 service fee. The card may belong to someone else. Both the review fee and service fee are non-refundable.

§ After submit

What happens between hitting submit and getting through immigration.

  1. 01

    Confirmation screen

The official site shows a confirmation on screen. Screenshot it — that's your backup.

  2. 02

    Result arrives by email

The portal emails the issue or refusal result. If the message does not arrive, use the official status checker instead of filing a duplicate immediately.

  3. 03

    At immigration

Download and print the A4 e-Visa sent by the portal. Present it with the same travel document used in the application.

  4. 04

    Print the A4 e-Visa

ASAN says the visa is not placed in the passport. Print the PDF and carry it with the travel document used to apply.

  5. 05

    Entry remains a border decision

An issued e-Visa permits travel but does not remove the border check. The document, visa and stay conditions must still match.

The public first step shows nationality, travel-document type and entry choice. Later form validation attributes, character limits and error text were not readable without progressing through a real application. This guide does not invent them.

1. Check visa-free status

Use the passport you will actually carry. Read the passport type, stay limit and any start or end date. A visa-free traveller has no e-Visa form to complete and should pay nothing for one.

2. Confirm e-Visa eligibility

If a visa is required, check that ASAN lists the passport. The same page flags temporary visa-free rules that can override the usual e-Visa route for a limited number of entries.

3. Select the travel document

Choose nationality and document type according to the passport you will present. Dual nationals must use the same document for application and travel. Persons with refugee status are directed to a diplomatic mission.

4. Check the validity buffer

The document must remain valid for at least 3 months after the e-Visa expires. Do not count 3 months from arrival; count from the end of the visa’s validity.

5. Make the photo-page scan readable

ASAN makes the applicant responsible for the scanned photo page. Include the complete page with no glare over the number, name, photo or dates. An unreadable copy can lead to refusal.

6. Leave enough processing time

Standard service needs at least 3 working days before arrival. The urgent route is processed in 3 hours, including non-working days, but it is a separate service choice.

7. Use an email you control

Acceptance, payment and decision notices are sent to the entered address. Check the spelling. If the result does not arrive, use the official status checker rather than opening a duplicate application.

8. Pay only on the government portal

The standard published total is USD 25: USD 20 state fee plus USD 5 service fee. The portal accepts Visa, Mastercard and UnionPay. The card may belong to another person. Payment is non-refundable.
